Asterisk is a software based, open source PBX platform. Asterisk was originally developed by Digium and is downloadable at ftp.digium.com.
Asterisk is a highly versatile soft PBX platform which natively supports several protocols, such as SIP & IAX, and codecs, such as G711 & GSM.
