FusionPBX SIP Trunk Setup: Configure IPComms with FreeSWITCH

Complete guide to connecting IPComms SIP trunks to FusionPBX. Gateway configuration, inbound/outbound routes, and dialplan setup.

What is FusionPBX?

FusionPBX is a web-based multi-tenant PBX built on FreeSWITCH. It offers call center features, IVR, voicemail, conferencing, and more. Unlike Asterisk-based systems, FusionPBX uses FreeSWITCH as its telephony engine.

Why FusionPBX? Multi-tenant support, scalability, and modern FreeSWITCH core make it ideal for hosting providers and larger deployments.

Prerequisites

  • FusionPBX installed and running
  • IPComms SIP trunk credentials (username, password)
  • DID number from IPComms
  • Admin access to FusionPBX web interface

Step 1: Add SIP Gateway

Navigate to Gateways

Go to Accounts > Gateways

Add New Gateway

Click the + button to add a new gateway

Enter Gateway Settings

Save Gateway

Click Save. Check status shows as REGED (registered).

Step 2: Outbound Route

Create an outbound route to send calls through IPComms.

Go to Dialplan > Outbound Routes

Click + to add new route

Step 3: Inbound Route

Route incoming calls from your IPComms DID to an extension or IVR.

Go to Dialplan > Inbound Routes

Click + to add new inbound route

Step 4: Testing

  • Verify gateway shows REGED status
  • Make outbound test call to cell phone
  • Call your DID from external phone
  • Check call quality and two-way audio
